Montmartre,  Paris.

Montmartre is the kind of place we wanted to visit on a fine weather. Since we were staying at Gare Du Nord area, Montmartre was only a 20-minute walk. It was a good way to work your butt out because we had to walk up the stairs and hills to be able to get there.

At first I was like "OMG this is a lot of people, and I hate being around too many people", but really the view from the top of the hill made the stair climb worth it. And, apparently there were a lot of small fabric and vintage shops along the way!

This 83m-tall white Roman Catholic church is called the Sacre Coeur (Sacré-Cœur), also known as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris. Could we get in? Yes, but unfortunately we didn't. We thought, it would be too many people inside and we really needed some wine already by then.

Now, this is it; the view I was talking about. It's the best place for people watching. Lots of tourists from all over the world, speaking different languages, wandering around, it's just fun to look at their faces and try to guess what they're thinking about sometimes.  A lot of food trucks, or just people bringing their own picnic kits. If you walk a bit to the right side of the church, you can have a view of the Eiffel Tower!

it's almost impossible to get a picture with the view on the background without anyone else in it.

these little shops along the small alleys are too cute to ignore!

So, in the picture above, there are lots of copies of Gustav Klimt's paintings. I've always liked his artwork; although I'm not an art expert, but his art is so friendly on the eyes, and so genuinely beautiful. The thing is, when we visited Paris, there was a Gustav Klimt exhibition with really awesome light installations. But due to our tight schedule (and I had my mom and brother with me, figured they wouldn't wanna come) we couldn't make it.

I was extremely excited of having a coffee / wine in this specific restaurant. It's like a dream come true that I found this place without checking the map. And luckily, we could get a table here outside! Know that this place is famous in Paris. We had their recommended house wine, and some cheese and cold meat. It was the best tipsy time ever!!

So, this is the end of the Montmartre trip. I think it was about 8pm that day (it was still a long and warm summer) so the sun was up till late. Going back downhill, still lots of colorful eye-pleasing restaurants and shops. Montmartre is the one place I'll always miss. I would be so glad to be a Parisian if I had Montmartre to visit to when I want to feel kawaii :D Paris has its pros and cons; most of them cons. But with Montmartre in it, I would want to go back once more. Maybe next time I'd have 2 glasses of white wine instead of 1, I'd have more cheese and eat more salamis.

Lille is such a small town, that you could walk around it for almost a day. We arrived in the day around 11am, and explored the city center in hours. It was a Sunday when we arrived so pretty much all the shops were closed.

Most cafes in the square have outdoor seatings, which made it feel "communal" and you can watch people dance in the middle of the square as the town gets darker.
